Abstract
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects social interaction, social communication, and behavior mostly in early the childhood. The severity of ASD exhibits significant variability ranging from mild social challenges to significant communication and intellectual impairments. The increasing worldwide occurrence of ASD can be attributed for awareness, enhanced screening procedures and expanded diagnostic criteria. Currently autism diagnosis is majorly based on the behaviour assessment which is a time consuming, subjective and depend on the trained professionals as a result detection is often delayed. Early diagnosis of autism is essential because it significantly improves patient outcomes. Behavioral therapy remains the primary form of a treatment while medications are mainly used to manage the associated symptoms. This article highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in early autism detection. AI based tools that analyze videos, speech patterns and eye tracking data offer screening methods. When it is used along with clinicians it can support early diagnosis, personalized support and improve long term outcomes for individuals with the ASD.
